Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc

This wine demonstrates the usual Southern Right balance of tight "Old World" minerality and length with hints of "New World" texture and body. It is made in a way that ensures the individuality of place and soil is not overridden by the powerful character of the grape. The origin expressive personality, minerality, and palate complexity of the 2023 are prioritised over the straightforward, overpowering varietal fragrance. A sizeable portion of the fruit in this wine came from soil that was heavy in iron and clay, which gave the wine a textural and structural element as well as more overall complexity. The usual brilliant, tensile quality and pronounced, salty minerality of sandstone soils have contributed to the composition. Not just a varietal expression of Sauvignon blanc, this is Sauvignon blanc as good wine.
