Small Victories Sangiovese

The sisters' (in- law's) return with a trio of approachable and delectable reds ideal for the cooler months. The 2021 Sangiovese from Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills is first up, with sour cherries and dried rose petals, autumnal leaves and ferny undergrowth, all singing to the classic Sangiovese playbook. On the palate, there are cherry galore and the edge of a savoury, almost sanguine note, as well as structure from ageing in seasoned big format French oak. It's crisp and delicious with juicy acidity in a medium-bodied frame and mild but gripping tannins. My bet? In a moment, Bistecca alla Fiorentina!
