Founded in 1979, the same year winemaker Hannes Schuster's parents tied the knot, this family estate nurtures around 11 hectares of vines, some as old as 60 years. In recent years, Hannes and his mother Rosi have passionately focused on Sankt Laurent, Blaufränkisch, and Rotburger, cultivating their vineyards organically with a commitment to low yields that produce extraordinary fruit. Their younger vines are crafted into expressions of Burgenland Blaufränkisch, Sankt Laurent, and Rotburger—elegant interpretations of classic regional wines.
The Rosi Schuster Sankt Laurent is crafted from vines aged between 11 and 31 years, thriving on the picturesque hillsides (120-180m) of Sankt Margarethen, Zagersdorf, Oslip, and Donnerskirchen. These vines are rooted in diverse soils of sand, limestone, loam, and slate, lending unique complexity to the wine. Handpicked with care, the grapes undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts before maturing for 10 months in large wooden barrels.
The wine bursts with vibrant red-cherry fruit and an uplifting freshness. Its barely medium-bodied palate delivers a lively dance of bright fruit, fine-grained tannins, and crisp acidity, showcasing remarkable balance and elegance. The delicate, animated finish lingers gracefully, surprising with its finesse and poise at just 11% alcohol. From organically grown grapes, this Sankt Laurent shines with purity and charm.
