Picardy Shiraz

The first Picardy Shiraz was crafted in 1997, embodying an elegant, complex, cool-climate style that exceeds expectations and continues to evolve beautifully with cellaring.

Dan explains that they apply many of the same techniques used in their Pinot Noir production, adapting them for Shiraz to create a wine that reflects the classic Old World style. Picardy Shiraz typically includes 4% Malbec and 2% Viognier (co-fermented) to enhance fruit sweetness and complexity.

This wine stands out for its vibrant colour, pronounced fruit flavours, low pH without high acidity, and fine-grained tannins. On the nose, it’s delightfully floral and pretty, leading to an elegant, medium-bodied profile.

Expect fresh red fruits like raspberries, macerated cherry, and pomegranate, gradually deepening into darker tones with hints of cinnamon and subtle earthy, undergrowth notes for added depth. As always, this Shiraz shines with impeccable balance and grace—another stunner in the lineup.
