Since taking the reins of the family domaine in 2018, Pascal Pernot has swiftly earned acclaim as a rising star in Gevrey-Chambertin. His journey is rooted in family legacy: Pascal’s great-grandfather, once the chauffeur for the Liégard family of Château de Brochon, inherited vineyards that included the esteemed La Croix Violette. Founded in 1900, the domaine spans 7 hectares surrounding the village of Brochon, with Pascal now representing the fourth generation of stewardship. Crafted with meticulous care, 15–20% of the fruit from the oldest vines undergoes whole-bunch fermentation, followed by aging in 500L demi-muids, 20% of which are new. The wine reveals a luminous mid-crimson hue and a refined, slightly high-toned bouquet layered with vibrant raspberry notes. On the palate, it strikes a balance of solid structure and saline freshness, culminating in an impressively long, resonant finish.
