Kilikanoon Duke Reserve Grenache

A true sentimental favourite, the Duke is meticulously crafted from two exceptional single Grenache vineyards in Watervale, Clare Valley, each aged 72 and 78 years. Both vineyards are dry-farmed, hand-pruned, and hand-harvested, ensuring the utmost care and quality. Selected parcels, chosen for their power and elegance, were destemmed and crushed into small open fermenters, where they remained on skins for an extended period to integrate flavour, colour, and tannin. Basket-pressed into seasoned French oak puncheons and hogsheads, the wine underwent 16 months of gentle development, accumulating layers of complexity.

On the nose, ripe red fruits and white plums are underpinned by savoury forest fruit notes. At its core, dark and plush forest fruits dominate, while silken tannins gracefully coat the palate and linger on the finish, harmonizing with persistent flavours of raspberry compote and subtle oak. The wine's balance of crisp acidity and natural tannin creates a medium-bodied structure that will continue to develop complexity over time.
