At Jones Road, winemaking begins in the vineyard, where meticulous yield management and hand-picking ensure grapes arrive at the winery in pristine condition. Vineyard owner Rob Frewer and his son, Matthew, the vineyard manager, have carefully nurtured the vines since planting. They maintain a hands-on approach throughout the year, especially during the critical vintage period, to achieve the ideal balance of baume, pH, and acidity.
The wines are crafted at Sticks Winery in the nearby Yarra Valley by winemaker Travis Bush. Here, traditional methods are combined with the latest technology and exceptional handling techniques. The wines are matured in the finest new French oak for at least ten months before bottling and are then laid to rest until the flavors fully develop.
This Pinot Noir offers plenty of refined character and complexity, with notes of spicy forest berry, red cherry, cocoa powder, and a sophisticated layer of fine-grained savory French oak. The palate is supple and lithe, with layered tannins that hold the crunchy red cherry flavors in an elegant, gently curved shape. It exhibits terrific balance and a satisfying cherry stone finish.
