Henschke The Rose Grower Nebbiolo

Stephen and Prue Henschke expanded Cyril’s original 1960s plantings on the Henschke Eden Valley Vineyard, introducing new varieties to Australia such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Tempranillo, and Graciano. In 2003, Nebbiolo vines were planted in rocky soils on an elevated, foggy, north-facing slope at the source of the North Para River, overlooking the village of Eden Valley. First produced in 2010, this wine is named in honour of the Roesler family, who managed the property as a dairy for generations. The name Roesler, rooted in German, denotes a rose grower.

In the glass, it showcases a pale garnet colour with bright ruby hues. The bouquet is delicate yet captivating, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rosehip, red licorice, bergamot, tarragon, dried fig, and tea leaf. The palate is complex and layered, featuring red berries, plum, and cherry, framed by lingering notes of rose petals, nutmeg, and crushed dried herbs. Balanced by minerality, refined tannins, and fresh acidity, this wine delivers a long and elegant finish.
