About This Wine:

Crafted exclusively from the distinguished MV6 clone, the ‘First Light’ Reserve Pinot Noir beautifully showcases the unique essence of Australia's own Pinot Noir heritage. Originating from cuttings of the legendary Clos Vougeot vineyard in Burgundy, the MV6—short for Mother Vine—was meticulously propagated in Griffith. Planted in 1980, these mature vines, now thriving in their third decade, naturally yield low fruit with minimal intervention, effortlessly expressing the purest varietal and terroir characteristics.

Renowned for its rich flavour profile, the MV6 clone delivers deep notes of cherry and dark strawberry, accented by a delicate hint of spice. The tannins are firm yet elegantly positioned towards the back palate, offering a refined structure. Unlike the Pommard clone, known for its bold, gamey undertones, the MV6 leans into a more savoury spectrum, with nuances of dried fruits, herbs, and a touch of spice. Its bouquet and palate exude sophistication and complexity, promising an evolving depth that rewards patience. Like its Pommard counterpart, this Reserve Pinot Noir will flourish with a few years of careful cellaring, unveiling its full potential over time.
