Glenfarclas is a superb family-owned Speyside distillery that primarily uses Sherry casks to mature in. They offer a selection of 105 cask strength, which is bottled at a lovely 60%. A full-flavored, powerful whisky. The sherry influence is strong, with notes of grapes, raisins, and other dried fruits emerging alongside sweeter scents of treacle and iced tea. The palate is hot, peppery, along with other pleasant aromas of wood, marmalade, and cooked fruits like apricots and quince. After 16 years the palate is long and sumptuous, with a throbbing vanilla grape blend and a build up of spices; The sherry cask whisky is as pure and full of the delights of Jerez. A traditional malt that has stepped up a gear or two to become precisely what it is: a whisky of sheer excellence.
