Over the past 25 years, Freycinet Chardonnay has garnered consistent acclaim for its unwavering quality and remarkable longevity. Crafted from the finest Chardonnay grapes, handpicked from our original 1979 vines, this wine epitomizes excellence. The grapes are whole-bunch-pressed and fermented in premium French oak barriques, with regular battonage during maturation to enhance texture and harmonize the vibrant Tasmanian acidity.
The result is a wine of exceptional character, elegance, and intensity, rivalling the finest Chablis. Its meticulously crafted profile boasts purity, power, and persistence. The delicate bouquet reveals citrus and melon, accented by hints of hazelnut and spice. On the palate, it offers a pristine, fresh vibrancy, with luscious flavours of ripe rockmelon, white peach, grapefruit, and lime peel, beautifully intertwined with shimmering acidity and subtle spicy oak. A harmonious balance of luxurious texture and dynamic tension ensures this wine will continue to evolve gracefully for years to come.
"A compact and brightly lit Chardonnay of just-ripe stone fruits, light ginger elements, faint saline notes, grapefruity acidity and licks of green leafy herbs. It has a distinct vibrancy and yet elegance from the chime in of light nougat sweet-savouriness. Great extension of flavour too. Modern Tasmanian Chardonnay has many benchmarks, and this of course sits well in that upper echelon."
