Frankland Estate Alter Weg Riesling

The German phrase "old way" (Alter Weg) describes how we approach this Riesling. Wild yeast fermentation takes place in big format barrels after the harvest of balanced, ripe Riesling fruit. With approachability and generous fruit backed by the creamy textural feature of this bright riesling, another 10 months of ageing on full lees in barrel results in a wonderfully structured Riesling.

The delicate, well-rounded acidity of this wine creates a tension that expertly balances the fruity, yet savoury tongue with a delightful and mouthwatering finish. While maintaining the fine line attained by our organic Rieslings at Frankland Estate, the barrel ageing provides the wine a noticeable roundness and richness. A complex, well-balanced Riesling that will mature into something even more complex.
