Hand-picked and swiftly placed into a refrigerated container right on the vineyard, the fruit begins its journey with care. Driven directly to Devonport, it crosses Bass Strait overnight, arriving at the winery the very next morning in pristine condition. The grapes are destemmed and cold-soaked for three to four days in a mix of open oak vats and stainless steel fermenters. The MV6 parcel, sourced from the hilltop, underwent whole-bunch fermentation in an oak fermenter.
Maturation took place in French oak barriques (25% new, 75% seasoned) from D&J, Vicard, and Taransaud for eight months. The wine was then racked, blended, and bottled by gravity without fining or filtration, preserving its pure character.
A vivid deep red with a vibrant purple hue, this wine is alive with aromas of perfectly ripened cherries—clean, bright, and enticing. The palate is lush and layered, offering an abundance of dark cherry flavours interwoven with delicate spice. Fruit sweetness and a rounded texture are balanced by soft, fine tannins that create a seamless finish. With flavours that linger beautifully, this wine is immensely appealing now and will only gain complexity with cellaring.
