About This Wine:

Planted in 2001, the Farr Rising Pinot Noir vineyard thrives on a diverse mix of rootstocks and three classic clones—MV6, 114, and 115. Set on an exposed, north-facing slope, the vineyard's terroir transitions from grey sandy loam with ironstone pebbles at the crest to rich black volcanic soil over limestone at the base.

Hand-harvested fruit is meticulously sorted in the vineyard before fermentation in open-top fermenters, with 60 to 70 percent destemmed. By gravity, the wine is transferred into 20 to 30 percent new Allier oak barrels, undergoing secondary fermentation before gentle racking and bottling at 18 months.

Elegant and expressive, this Pinot Noir opens with delicate, perfumed aromatics that evolve beautifully in the glass. The palate unfolds with a refined sweetness, underpinned by mineral complexity and toasty oak. Structured yet supple, it lingers with a long, savoury finish. With the pedigree to stand alongside its more powerful counterparts, this is a wine of depth and finesse, rewarding cellaring for five to eight years.
