About This Wine:

Planted in 2001, the Farr Rising Chardonnay vineyard lies beside its Pinot Noir counterpart, yet its soil tells a different story—dominated by grey loam rather than the dark, volcanic-rich earth of its neighbor. Sheltered by gentle undulations, the site experiences low fertility and restrained vine growth, resulting in Chardonnay of remarkable depth and tension. A blend of Dijon clones and Penfolds 58 lends further complexity.

Hand-picked fruit is whole-bunch pressed, with all solids collected and chilled before transfer to barrel. Fermentation occurs naturally at cool temperatures over two months in 20 to 30 percent new French oak sourced from the Allier and Vogue forests. A touch of stirring initiates malolactic fermentation, and after 11 months of maturation, the wine is racked, fined, and lightly filtered before bottling.

Aromatically refined, this Chardonnay exudes citrus blossom, seamlessly interwoven with vibrant fruit and wet stone minerality. The palate is electric with racy acidity, evolving into fine mineral elements that carry through to an extended, elegant finish. A wine of quiet power, precision, and exceptional balance, shaped by its distinctive site.
