About This Wine:

Widely regarded as the benchmark estate in Cahors, Château du Cèdre is led by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, both highly skilled oenologists. Their family’s winemaking legacy dates back to their grandfather Léon, who left Flanders in the early 1900s to settle in south-west France. In 1958, their parents, Charles and Marie-Thérèse, began planting vines alongside their mixed farm, laying the foundation for what is now an iconic domaine.

This 100% Malbec is sourced from purchased fruit grown on the 1st and 2nd terraces near the river, where the terroir lends depth and vibrancy to the wine. The fruit is fully de-stemmed and crushed, followed by a gentle 3–4 day cold soak to extract colour and subtle tannins. Fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel, it is then matured in concrete tanks for 6–8 months, preserving its purity and freshness. A beautifully crafted expression of Cahors Malbec, offering both finesse and approachability.
